A to Z Guide for the Mini Cosmic Machine

In the present age of technological advancement, we are habitual to use various kinds of modern equipments to enhance our efficiency in communicating, cooking, information, sports, traveling, entertainment, printing, detecting, measuring, investigating etc. Whenever we purchase any machine or apparatus, the manufacturer also provides us, with some literature known as the operating manual. The suppliers advise us to strictly adhere to the relevant instructions during the installation, operation, maintenance and preservation, so that the best performance of the apparatus is ensured in various kinds of working conditions and for retaining its optimum efficiency for a full duration of prescribed lifetime. They also warn the users against misuse, inadvertence, and accidents and to safeguard it from defective and unauthorized handling. The wrong usage of the equipment is liable to cause loss, damage and harm to user. Neglecting the relevant instructions should be avoided in all circumstances. A person who purchases a special machine, without acquiring its guidebook is liable to misuse it, resulting in inefficiency, accident, failure of the purpose, harm to others, as well as the destruction of the machine.

Take for example; when you acquire a mini-cosmic machine of following description, you should carefully observe the guide for using it successfully.

A super computer-cum-atomic reactor controlling and coordinating a universal network of audio and video system, air circulator, exhaust fan, pulverizer chemical processor-cum-power generator, communication network, fault locating and trouble shooting mechanism, central pump, life-line network, feedback system, immunity arrangement, sewage system, defense mechanism, demolition squad, construction group and many more maintenance systems flexibly mounted upon a versatile automobile base all working automatically in harmony with each other for a span of hundred years, capable of adaptation for various circumstances. This entire complex system is capable of reproducing and thus multiplying itself to spread its generation, by adjusting and accommodating itself to the environmental variations. This is one of the God made machines endowed with the qualities of feeling, willing, thinking, responding, defending and executing. This is our human body united with mind and spirit. How can you get the best of your machine without having comprehensive knowledge about the A to Z guide provided by God himself for the proper utilization of this mini cosmic machine?

In fact all the man-mad machines, chemical-plants and processes are nothing but copy of the nature as well as the amalgamations of the natural processes. The human expertise is to control the natural forces and the natural energies, as favorable for their sustained utility. Thus, the controlled energy source is used for industry, home, illumination, production, transportation, ventilation, construction, preservation, defense, offence etc. The research and developments in the fields of engineering mechanics, chemical and biological processes, medical science, engineering materials, minerals, metals, alloys, composite materials etc, that cater to varied specifications of temperature, velocity, hardness, conductivity, insulation, ductility, malleability, compression, elongation, magnetism, elasticity and many more qualities help the engineers and technicians to invent new machines and new processes.

Our human body is unparalleled mini-cosmic machine created by God and supplied to us free of cost, for a short duration. This is the miniature replica of the macro-cosm. Those who do not know about its real significance and proper use are bound to misuse the same to face grief, fear and death. The natural rule is that, a great thing when properly used bestows great benefits, as well as when misused it produces great calamity. Due to the large-scale misuse of human life in this world, we are witnessing endless sufferings, violence, fear, unrest, dissatisfaction, duplicity, deception, enmity, degradation and doom. Along with the creation of this complex machine, God has supplied its operating guide know as the Vedas or the revealed scriptures. This “Universal Directory” enlightens the human beings regarding the purpose of life, the human situation, our starting point and the final destination, identification of the self, the worldly course of repeated births and deaths, the divine demoniacal nature, the right path and wrong path, the three modes of material nature, true liberation of jivas, the easiest method to achieve success, nature of this world, our relationship with this world, world-peace, life beyond death, eternal situations of the pure spirit, achievement of happiness and bliss, how to root out sin and offences,, healthy life, the path of blessedness, release from mundane relativity, our permanent duty, spiritual wisdom, Universal welfare, divine excellence and many more universal and transcendental topics that are related to living beings in every step of their existence.

The human body is incorporated with all the natural sciences like physics, chemistry, mechanics, electronics, magnetism, metabolism, heat, light, sound, traction, architecture, air-conditioning, aesthetics, sewage, computing, combustion, cybernetics etc by the arrangements of a versatile skeleton, nervous system, lymphatic system, circulation, motor system, sensory system, digestion, respiration, excretion, coetaneous system, genital system, reproductive system etc. The supreme intelligence of the Creator is beyond imagination.

The self-evident divine knowledge manifested during the time of universal creation is known as the Vedas. First of all it appeared in the heart of Brahma by the grace and benediction of the Supreme Lord. The creator Brahma imparted this divine knowledge to the various seers and to  the  prominent persons in his creation. Thus the divine knowledge descended down to this world and spread through disciplic succession. The competent successors maintained the sanctity of this knowledge, whereas most of the incompetent successors got it distorted and misunderstood due to their own wrong perceptions under the triple modes of material nature. The Vedic literature is the detailed instruction manual for achieving secular welfare as well as spiritual well being. Various seers of spiritual merit have obtained various verses of the Vedas in their devotional trance. Meta physical aspect of the Vedic text is explained in the Upanishads. The essence of this Upnashidic knowledge is Srimad Bhagavad-Gita. Therefore, Gita is the comprehensive theoretical representation of the entire Vedic Knowledge. The concluding part of Vedas, logically presented and enunciated by Sri Veda Vyas is known as Vedanta. The first commentary of this Vedanta Sutras presented by Vyasa himself is known as Srimad Bhagavatam. This Bhagavatam is known as the ripest fruit of the Vedic desire tree. This is the practical demonstration of the teachings found in Gita.

The eighteen branches of Vedic learning are as follows:
The four Vedas namely Rik, Yajuh, Sama and Atharva. The six organs of Vedic study such as pronunciation (Siksha), ritual (Kalpa), grammar (Vyakarana), definition (Nirukta), prosody (Chanda) and astronomy (Jyotisha) further Puranas theology (Mimamsa), logic (Nyaya), law books (Dharma Shastra), Science of Life (Ayurveda), Science of Archery (Dhanurvidya), science of Music (Gandharva Veda) and economics (Artha Shastra).

The three main parts of the Vedas are Samhita, Brahmana and Aranyaka, which respectively teach the deity worship, prescribed duties and Meta physics. The enlightened provided by the Vedas helps the humanity to become free from the clutches of ignorance, sin, misguidance, perversion, misconception, inefficiency, violence, hatred and downfall. It guides the human life in every step, by ensuring thorough reformations to produce healthy, wealthy, virtuous and brilliant generations capable of transcending fear, grief and death.

All the living beings are originated from God; just as innumerable tiny sparks came out of blazing fire. When this infinitesimal sparks fly away from their original source, they are bound to loose their luster due to the influence of smoke and ash. The only course for these black carbon particles to regain their lost eminence is to associate again with the blazing fire. Thos jives who become averse to the divine services out of their own enjoying mood, move away from the Lord, towards the region of external potency Maya. The delusive energy of the Lord traps the erring jives and provides them temporary shelters and changing situations. Thus their longest tale of tears starts in this mundane Universe, which continues unabated, until and unless they turn towards the Lord and serve Him with loving devotion. Analogically we can see the drops of water that leave the ocean during summer get transformed into water vapor, cloud and pour down as rain and undergo metamorphosis in drains, plains, reservoirs, chemicals, industries, factories, food grains, bottles, mud, plants, tress, living beings and in many other ways face endless sufferings until they reach back the ocean to rest in peace. Only the water drops from the surface of the ocean become subjected to these conditions. The drops lying deep within the ocean do not undergo such despicable conditions. Similarly the eternally liberated souls, who are fully engaged in serving the Lord, never deviate from their divine service. As the jivas are the particles of Divine potency, they are eternal and indestructible. While undergoing the ordeals of repeated births and deaths, if they happen to acquire the grace and association of holy souls, by following their advice these fallen souls can turn towards the Supreme Lord and engage in his eternal service. As the divine abode is full of absolute bliss, generally the jivas who reached the abode do not return to the mundane sphere of suffering. Vedic literatures provide guidance to the fallen jiva-souls to travel back to their real home that is the kingdom of Supreme Lord.

The Vedic knowledge is basically of three kinds known as 1. The knowledge of relationship. 2. The means to realize God. 3. The ultimate achievement for jivas. The Vedas remind the humanity that their eternal relationship is with Supreme Lord, as his eternal loving servants. Devotional service to the Lord is the only process, which helps us in reaching the divine abode by unfolding our true and eternal characteristic nature. Divine Love is the ultimate goal of human life. This is the eternal treasure for the individuals. Those who do not posses this divine love are destitute forever. Lord Krishna advised in Gita that, those who desire to learn this science of eternal welfare, should approach a God realized person, with a mood of surrender, enquiry and service.

Upanishads compare the human body as a chariot, embodies soul as the owner of the chariot, intellect as the charioteer, mind as the reins and senses as the horses that pull this chariot. The noble intellect directs this chariot towards the spiritual home and ensures the welfare of the master of the chariot. The wicked intellect lets loose the reins and allows the senses to enter into the mortal forest of sense-pleasures, where the robbers in the form of lust, anger, greed, delusion, pride and prejudice loot the master and ruin him. The one who is greedy for material pleasure has to loose the eternal wealth of divine love and live  a tragic life of grief, fear and death. This is the net result of worldly attachments. While living in this world one should avoid worldliness and proceed towards immortality by accepting devotional culture in holy association. Instead of serving the world, we should serve the Lord of the worlds. Supreme Lord alone is the Lord of all the spiritual and secular worlds.

Srimad Bhagavatham compares our human body as an able boat given by God for crossing the ocean of worldliness. A boat may remain in water, but water should not enter into the boat. Similarly, you may live in this world; the world should not enter into your hearts. If you do not care for this basic reality, you will get drowned at any time. Human body is a boat, spiritual preceptor is the expert helmsman, and God’s grace is favorable wind. It is the first duty of a sincere person to cross the worldly ocean of sorrows and sufferings to reach the shore of immortality. Those who lead a beastly life and care for petty gains of this mortal world shall lose the real purpose of human life and deserve to be known as self-annihilators. Those who misuse the human birth have to undergo numberless births and deaths in eighty-four lakhs of various species of living beings to face endless sufferings. Let us now question ourselves; are we in the same direction of self-destruction?

Now let us discuss a little regarding natural living or pollution free living. The human life is closely related to the three kinds of natures or three kinds of energies of the Supreme Lord. These are known as the material nature, marginal nature and the spiritual nature. Natural living is to live in perfect harmony with these three fold natures. That alone can give real solace and well being to the humanity. Those who go against these threefold nature have to suffer calamity, distress and downfall. Foolish people engage in mutilating the nature and think that they have conquered the nature. Man is an indivisible part of the nature. Therefore, mutilating the nature is to destroy the well being of entire creation. Harming the external nature is a great crime. Neglecting the marginal nature is greater crime. Disregarding the spiritual nature is the greatest crime. Wicked people commit all these abominable crimes and push the humanity into deeper hellish regions. Vedas teach us, how to lead a virtuous natural life. All the Vedic seers lived an eco-friendly life, where even cruel beasts of the forest forgot their harmful nature. The natural vibrations formulate the Divine language Sanskrit, where the name and form are closely related to each other. For a noble soul who is truthful in his thought word and deed by sincerely surrendering to the Supreme Lord, this divine language unfolds its root meaning to have communion with the absolute truth. All the alphabets of this divine language are generated from the Supreme Lord Narayana; therefore in their pure state they disclose the divinity. The root meaning of every Sanskrit word indicates the original reality, the Supreme Lord. For realizing this transcendental fact, one should associate with holy souls accept spiritual initiation and chant the divine names, being free from all kinds of offences. One should acquire all the holy qualities and discard evil company. Associating with God-realized holy souls, adopting nobility in life, following the science of devotional culture, study and practice of the teachings of Gita and Bhagavatam, all these shall entitle human beings to achieve the ultimate fruit of Divine Love, within a short duration of time.

Every word of the divine language is related to God, just as a every leaf of a tree is related to its root. The eclipsing influence of the mundane qualities of ignorance, passion and mixed goodness prevents the ordinary people from realizing the root meaning of words. As the mundane sphere is influenced by the relativity of the passing time and fleeting space, the living beings subjected to this relativity cannot realize anything absolute or permanent. The divine abode, which transcends the limitations of time and space, is absolute, steady and eternal. A surrendered devotee takes shelter at the Lotus Feet of the Supreme Lord and attains absolutely permanent situation, which is free from grief, fear and death. Non-devoted people have no access to the glorious abode. Merely by the help of empirical logic and material technology one cannot secure permanent success.

A most unfortunate fact is that, motivated people for wordly gains also mostly misunderstand these all-beneficial Vedas. Sometimes they are reduced to the state of rituals or commercialized to exploit people. Unless a person is extremely fortunate, he cannot avail the true assistance of spiritual wisdom. The Vedic knowledge is like an endless ocean. Only an expert driver can enter into an ocean to bring out gems and crystals. Similarly, our great Acharyas dived deep into this ocean of knowledge and brought out the great gems for the welfare of the humanity. Gita and Bhagavatham are the most brilliant gems that have appeared from this ocean of knowledge. Those who mould their lives in allegiance to these divine texts can reach the acme of human Excellency and enter the divine abode, full of infinite bliss. In the beginning of the Universal creation the Supreme Lord bestowed four original verses of Bhagavatham to the creator Brahma. This is the seed of the mighty Vedic tree. The four Vedas appeared from those four Bhagavatha verses. Srimad Bhagavatham containing 18,000 verses is the ripest fruit of the Vedic tree. A hungry person can sustain his life by eating the fruit. One cannot the eat the tree. Srimad Bhagavatham alone can tell about the super Excellency of the Supreme Lord such as His glory, kindness, beauty, greatness, mercy, grace, sweetness and majesty. As per the instruction of Srimad Bhagavatham, one should worship Lord Krishna under the footsteps of Gopikas to achieve Krishna Prema, the ultimate goal of Human Life.

Thos who do not adopt virtue and nobility in their lives are just two-legged animals. Virtuous life alone can bestow peace and happiness for human beings. A strange fact of this world is that, most of the people commit sinful deeds and do not wish to reap the fruit of sins. Similarly, they are not inclined towards conducting good deeds, but desire to reap the fruits of good deeds. One should know that, by sowing neem seed, you couldn’t reap mango fruit. Even Ayuerveda the medical sciences of healthy life mentions that, happiness can be had only by the adoption of good character. For achieving good health, one should consume virtuous, sinless and non-violent food, conduct auspicious and worthy activity, detached towards sense-pleasure, adopt charitability, equanimity, truthfulness, forgiveness and service to the elders. Those who have pleasing disposition, pleasant words, conduct noble activities, have controlled mind, sinless attitude, adopt austerity, strive for acquisition of worthy knowledge and endeavor for spiritual success, such worthy persons do not face physical or mental illness. Noble character augments intellectual merit, courage and memory power. Evil nature destroys these virtues and prompts to perform misdeeds, which in turn result in all kinds of disease and suffering.

Ambrosial medicines of Ayurveda, known as rasayana provides longevity, retentive power, wisdom, health, youthfulness, eminence, brilliance, strength, eloquence, politeness, and prominence. For enjoying all these virtues for a full Lifetime, one has to regulate his own behavior. The one who speaks truth, lacks in anger, keeps away from liquor and sexual affairs, non-violent, balanced in exertion, peaceful, speaks pleasant words, follows purity and chants divine names, serene, charitable, austere, servers deities, protects cows, respects precepts, devotees and elders, free from cruelty, lacks egoism, well behaved, pure in thought, fond of spiritual study, faithful to God, knower of code of conduct and self controlled, such a person is always entitled for success in Life.

The all auspicious saints and revealed scriptures advise us to acquire the following virtues in Life. One should regularly worship the Sri Vigrahas, respect cows and the preceptor, conduct diurnal worship, keep up pleasant mood, help the distressed, give charity as per might, hospitality towards the guests, speaking useful-sweet and limited words, should adopt sense-control and righteousness. One should not feel envy towards other’s progress; rather the cause of such progress should be pursued. One should be always carefree, fearless, modest, wise, enthusiastic, adept, forgiving and have firm faith in God. One should try to help the destitute, distressed and sorrowful people, as per capacity. Beggars should not be sent back empty handed. Chance-guests should be treated with pleasing words. One should associate with such worthy souls who are of superior nature, well versed in human behavior, unattached to worldly afflictions, pleasing, peaceful, peaceful, guiding all towards holy path, and also who bestows auspiciousness to others through their appearance and behavior. One should please the irritated persons through politeness, terrified persons through assuring words, should tolerate others’ harsh words, and avoid such events that produce attachment and enmity towards others. This type of dealing helps in building up of noble character.

The one who desires well being should keep away from evil activities. Speaking lies, encroaching into other’s property, desire for wealth and women, animosity, sin, and all these should be avoided. Even the sinners should not be victimized. One should never antagonize with great souls and should not associate with wicked people for any reason. Causing anxiety to helpless blind people, disrespecting ladies, impurity, disregard in worship, neglecting the scriptures, all these should be avoided. Wasting time, trespassing rules and regulations, dishonoring others, beating cows, all these evils should be avoided. One should not vitiate friendliness with brothers, relatives and well wishers. No major act should be done without due thinking. One should not yield to the allurement of the senses, and one should stop thinking about his own dishonor committed by others.

Our worldly existence is quite transitory. The one who has attained this rare human birth should first of all learn noble behavior. The life of good character alone is praise worthy and successful. Those who lack noble behavior are most despicable and censurable. By adopting nobleness one can enjoy solace and satisfaction, whereas due to bad character one has to undergo downfall and degradation.. Therefore a wise person should follow the noble path of well being by avoiding all kinds of evils. When a most valuable asset is misused, it results in worst consequences. In the creation of God, human birth is a most valuable gift of God. This is capable of securing the highest benediction of divine love through self-realization and God realization. There is no higher loss and calamity than to waste human life in unworthy and sinful acts to reach the state of hellish sufferings.

All the knowledge regarding secular welfare and spiritual perfection has their origin in the Vedas. The branches of learning also are innumerable. As per rough estimate, there are 18 branches of philosophy, 140 schools of philosophical doctrines, 61 main religious sects, 47 branches of physics, 68 branches of chemistry, 29 types of chemical processes, 135 kinds of popular and indigenous medieval therapies, 117 kinds of infectious diseases, 75 branches of psychology, 220 kinds of phobia, 166 kinds of mania etc are existent in this world. These are only a few drops in the ocean of knowledge, which is endless. Even in the long span of thousand births, one cannot learn the sum total of all this knowledge and information. Trying to acquire all kinds of knowledge is not only impossibility, it is useless too. Because, there is a saying that jack-of-all-trades is a master of none. Therefore, the most important matter is that, one should try to gain essential knowledge, which can make our lives completely successful. All other learning’s are casual and secondary to our existence. Among billions of human beings, only few are the knower of the ultimate essence of this ocean knowledge, while the common masses can never develop any expertise to achieve that highest enlightenment. In spite of this abstruseness and rarity of divine knowledge, a definite course is available for the common masses to attain such a rare success in the form of eternal bliss. All the common people should adopt noble behavior and honestly surrender at the feet of devotees of the Supreme Lord. The instructions of these devotees should be sincerely and whole-heartedly followed. The Vedic teachings of spiritual secret are imparted by Lord himself to the humanity in the disciplic succession of spiritual initiation. Without the matchless gift of Vedic enlightenment, the human life remains unsuccessful forever.

This mundane world is perverted reflection of the divine abode. All the entities and activities of this world are the shadows or replicas of the spiritual entities and activities. This world is a temporary reality like dream. Divine abode is the permanent reality like the waking state of the spirit. Whatever exists in this mundane Universe has its real prototype in spiritual kingdom, which is free  from grief, fear and death. The arts and crafts of this world are originated from the sixty-four kinds of fine arts existing in the divine abode. Those arts are as follows

The human life is small link in an endless chain of individual soul’s existence. The fallen soul undergoes repeated births and deaths until the final liberation to reach the spiritual abode. For most of the living beings, transmigrations through various species is a very long journey. This journey has begun when they turned averse to God and entered the mundane sphere. The journey ends, only when the jivas reach their permanent home. In this almost endless journey associated with birth, death, old age and disease, grief, fear, sorrow, death and rebirth so on, one needs proper guidance to proceed in right direction.

In this universe filled with numberless living entities, every individual is traveling in various directions in pursuit of his desired fruits, thus these entities continuing their endless journey can be compared with different trains that move in various directions. In such a case, the Vedic scriptures constitute the original guide that regulates the movements of all these trains. Unless the driver of the train adheres to appropriate instructions, the train is bound to move in wrong directions, reaching destinations at wrong times, crashing with other trains, getting de-railed, facing accidents and destruction. Regarding the speed of the movement, duration of stops, selecting routes etc one may have some options but there is no option regarding the final desti9nation. Those who follow the guide and move towards the final destination with enthusiasm, determination and caution are bound to reach the goal in shortest possible time. Whereas, those who move carelessly in wrong directions are bound to face failure. God has given a tiny free will to all the sentient entities, for achieving success in life. Only those who use it rightly can achieve eternal peace, happiness and bliss. Every activity of the Human Beings should be conducted under the guidance of Spiritual Wisdom. According to Srimad Bhagavatham, the action which pleases the Supreme Lord alone is known as the worthy action, as well as the knowledge that fixes one’s disposition at the Feet of the Supreme Lord is known as the real Knowledge. Human Beings have freedom in performing activities, but they are not free in selecting the fruits of their action. Therefore, one should never conduct such activities, which produce bitter fruits. Noble activity conducted in a noble manner, with a noble intention can give noble results. A little carelessness and misguidance may create a great harm to the living beings. Gita is the theoretical essence of the Vedic teachings; Sriamd Bhagavatham is the practical demonstration of the Vedic knowledge. Those who conduct themselves under the guidance of these two texts can safely and surely reach the divine abode full of infinite bliss. Let us pray the Lord for association with such exalted souls.
